The much-loved series' first winner Edd Kimber didn't attract the fanfare of later winners as the show was still in its infancy in 2010, but he still managed to shift 13,0000 copies of his debut cookbook The Boy Who Bakes, netting him £37,500.
His follow up, Patisserie Made Simple is released on Thursday.
Joanne Wheatley built on the success of her predecessor, with her two cookbooks, Home Baking and A Passion for Baking, racking up £500,000 in sales. In addition, Joanne founded her own cookery school.
One of the most recognisable members of the Bake Off alumni is John Whaite, who could be seen daily as the resident chef on daytime TV queen Lorraine Kelly's eponymous show following his win.

He's also published four cookbooks and opened his own cookery school, John Waite's Kitchen. While winning series three enabled him to pursue his passion for a living, the journey to get the top took its toll on his mental health.
During the series, John struggled with depression and told Radio Times: "People think if you win the Bake Off you walk straight into a big book deal and all of this but it isn’t like that.
"You’ve still got to work really, really hard – probably harder than before – to make the right connections, to tour with brands, to discuss opportunities and negotiations."
Series four winner Frances Quinn has been backed by many famous faces since scooping the ultimate baking prize. She's been praised by Heston Blumenthal and has carried out commissions for the likes of Clare Balding and Jools Holland
