The “Taco Hero’s” valiant steal triggered the Tex-Mex chain’s “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” promotion. For the promotion, Taco Bell had promised to give away free Doritos Locos Tacos on November 1 if a base was stolen during game one or two of the World Series.
The ballplayer is joining a small but proud line of Taco Heroes, whose brave plate stealing earned the country free Taco Bell. Last year, Cleveland Indians short stop Francisco Lindor unlocked free tacos when he stole a base in the first inning of a World Series game against the Chicago Cubs. In 2015, Kansas City Royals player Lorenzo Cain swiped second base during a game against the New York Mets, winning every one free Crunchwrap.
